MEDICAL CARE
The multidimensional stress of overseas living can impact your health in a variety of ways. As a result of our comprehensive screening process, specific medical conditions requiring treatment can be identified, explored and then treated.
IHM physicians are general practitioners with a specialization in travel medicine, and several combined years of living and working overseas, who are assisted by a multicultural team of nurses. Together, they have an empathy for, and understanding of, the familiar-yet-strange symptomatology that can be present in a repatriating patient's health profile.
PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL CARE
After arriving "home" expatriates benefit from being screened and debriefed. During this process conditions might surface that require further treatment. Returning "home" might also require starting college or a new job - in either case The Highlands ProgramTM (www.highlandsco.com) offers a unique way of empowering expatriates to maximize their abilities and understand the academic and applied implications of their personal style.
IHM's Department of Counseling and Consulting addresses the psychosocial needs of expatriates, their spouses and families in psychotherapeutic and educational ways.
SPIRITUAL/PHILOSOPHICAL CARE
Often times the experience of being foreign can result in the losing and finding of one's soul, the disintegration and disequilibrium of self, or the loss and gain of meaning through suffering or trauma. Overseas life can even change us forever by its swift and terrible losses.
Attending to such experiences in healthy ways can be empowered by the services of a Spiritual Director - a practitioner of soul care who has a deep reverence for the upward, inward and outward journeys of your life.
